Joseph, A Prototype Of Christ -Prologue

Josep‎h was the penultimate son of Jacob
Preceding by birth only little Benjamin
‎Joseph was the much loved son of his Pop
Sired in old age, to whom he was never mean
His father made him a coat of many colours
Affection manifests in deeds, so do the honours

Joseph had a gift of dreams and interpretation
He dreamed he was the head of the Galaxy
And his siblings and parents bowed in submission
His siblings were piqued-who was he in the hierarchy?
Shall this teenage upstart now claim ‎dominion?

Christ was loved of His Father and hated by his brethren
The Jews were miffed by many of His mighty miracles
He demonstrated spiritual power beyond their ken
Their grouse was His claim that in Him God tabernacles
For that meant He was the head of all principality
And they like Joseph’s siblings must bow to His Deity

Joseph sent by his father, went to see his brothers
To note how there were faring with fruitful flock
They hatched a plot to kill him out of envy
Reuben counseled a sale-God’s design not luck

Joseph was condemned, stripped and thrown in a pit
Lest his blood be on their hands, they sold him for silver
Twenty pieces was the price of the future deliverer
Bought by moving Midianite merchants-to Egypt he went
His brothers dyed his coat with animal blood
And reported to Jacob, an animal had him for food

So God sent Christ with a message for Israel
In envy they sentenced Him ‎in their hearts
Then took counsel to play out a drama of parts

Thirty pieces of silver was the price of their Deliverer
Lest His blood be on them they passed Him to the Gentiles
Roving bands of Roman soldiers-to Caesar’s court ides

As they wove a tale that Joseph was dead ‎while alive
Beasts, the siblings said, claimed his body
So did the Jews after Christ was quickened to life
‎They claimed the apostles had stolen Christ’s body

If you read between the lines you will surely see
That Joseph’s life as was close to Christ’s as can be
But we are not with parallels done-tis just Part One

Wonderful piece of poetry, indeed Joseph typed Christ. I pray purpose is understood by we living under the blood of Christ through His word. Joseph understood purpose and played well into it and at the end it was all Christ type! God bless you bro.

Yes indeed, he typed Christ probably more than any other figure in the Old Testament.

Thanks for the compliment. God bless you.

Yes, Chijioke, it’s Christ through all and in all. God ‘en morphe’ in His prophets.

Michael, thanks for the feedback. God veiled Himself in prophets before His Masterpiece manifestation in Christ.

      Glad you enjoyed it. Shalom!
