To Be Like Others

In the yore-laden days of old
Israel was led by prophets bold
Divine mouthpieces they were
The Word came to them crisply clear
These prophets had only one rule
God’s will was their governing tool
Israel was deeply unhappy with this
Being ruled by Divine Decree was not bliss
Neighbours were better-heathen kings wiser
With their smart kings and cunning courtiers
So began the murmuring campaign of doubters
To depose Samuel the prophet and be like others
Samuel wept on the altar of his integrity
For he had led and directed with gravity
God said it was Him Israel had rejected
Could they not see He was their King
With Samuel acting as His life Regent?
What a reason to dethrone God for?
And spark a revolution against His authority
Emulation’s vice overthrew God’s Viceroy
For the trifle of aping other nations
Church means called out from the World
Copying heathen proves you are not called
Be not conformed to carnal uniformity
Follow Him that separated Light from darkness
And you will be part of the Word-Bride Unity

Bread On Different Levels

When the Syro-Phoenician sought healing
Jesus let her know with whom He was dealing
The children’s bread was not for dogs
Did He have no feeling or what was His meaning?
Still He said-lest Gentiles begin to dread
That He had other sheep from a different fold
Roaming in the wild and suffering in the cold
Murky waters of sin-they too must meet Him
The Shepherd of souls and be led and fed
With this same Bread that the children rejected
Pushed away from the fleshy tables of their heart
It fell to the Gentiles-those chosen to play the part
Same Word preached and offered to Jew first
Once rejected became the object of Gentile zest
Tables turned topsy-turvy and gravel became gravy
The wayside became the upside and right side
The wild wayfarers became Spirit Dwellers
Tis Soul Food served to the elect on a different level
