Rahab: She Heard, Believed And Acted

Rahab was a woman who lived by Jericho’s wall
She was a prostitute-it was not her only attribute
Because God had ordained that she would contribute
To Israel’s conquest of Jericho in the Promised Land
And so we will join the writer of Hebrews to pay tribute

While Israel marched through the Red Sea on dry land
The news of the miraculous Exodus spread far and wide
Nations trembled at the approach of this band
A people led by a God who saves with a mighty Hand

Jericho heard the news as it traveled across desert sands

Caleb: Pillar Of Courage

Caleb was the son of Jephunneh of the tribe of Judah
He has little introduction in the books of Moses

Whether it was truly blessed as God had promised
Only noble men were chosen, it was a matter of great import

The information gleaned would be useful for the invasion
So the spies had to appraise the people of the land
Were they many or few, did they live in strongholds?
Could they be defeated by Israel and God’s mighty hand? Continue reading

Joshua: The Warrior-Prophet

Joshua was the great prophet and warrior
That led the children of Israel into the land of favour
Should be no surprise his name means Jehovah-Saviour
Exodus and Possession are two of salvation’s best flavours

The Same God that spoke to Moses met him
Saying “As I was with Moses” promising the same anointing
Will accompany Joshua’s fledging ministry
And that before him all human obstacles would be nothing
God promised him the lifetime feat of never knowing defeat

The route to the land of promise was known
However Jordan loomed before, daunting and unknown
The land was near, but Jordan was in the way
