God Being Misunderstood

Our fathers understood not Thy works
Thus the Psalmist said‎ and thus we read
In malice be mere innocent children
But in Divine understanding be men

When Joseph had his dream
That all creatures in the realm
Will bow to his regal authority
His brethren despised the usurper
And thought his intentions improper

When Noah went to build an ark
Men scoffed at the coming rain
For mild mist from the earth’s crust
Watered the earth without any pain
They felt he was a befuddled buffoon

The men of Sodom also misunderstood
The message of the angels about fiery doom
They thought it was a time for mirth and sport
While Judgement’s vessel was already in port

People misunderstand the coming storm
Mocking the warnings of the Weather Station
As theological pundits reassure all of the norm
Like in Noah’s day they deride the prophet
Buffeting times will show the true muppet

Amram & Jochebed

Israel had come to Egypt for famine’s succour
Joseph’s ascension saved them from rigour
Exile was wonderful, the land was fruitful
Their lovely Goshen promised a golden future

All changed when a new king arose
A pharaoh who knew not Joseph’s deeds
Nor cared for his people and ‎their needs
Not indifference, but the hatred ‎that feeds
Anti-Semitism, seeds of Holocaust’s weeds

Joseph, A Prototype Of Christ – Coda

The Midianite merchants brought Joseph to Egypt
Being ‎bought by Potiphar, Pharaoh’s officer
He was trusted to ‎administer all of his master
Except the wife, ‎for doing so would be disaster

Potipher’s wife lusted after Joseph and tempted
With secret ‎rewards that would destroy Joseph’s purpose
If he ever that act of disloyal wickedness attempted
Joseph declined and she was shame-facedly morose
Daily she pursued, and daily he doggedly refused

Yet she framed him with evidence of his righteousness
A garment obtained in flight from evil’s appearance
Ironic, yet it was God’s plan not happenstance

Joseph, A Prototype Of Christ -Prologue

Josep‎h was the penultimate son of Jacob
Preceding by birth only little Benjamin
‎Joseph was the much loved son of his Pop
Sired in old age, to whom he was never mean
His father made him a coat of many colours
Affection manifests in deeds, so do the honours

Joseph had a gift of dreams and interpretation
He dreamed he was the head of the Galaxy
And his siblings and parents bowed in submission
His siblings were piqued-who was he in the hierarchy?
Shall this teenage upstart now claim ‎dominion?
