Importance Of Revelation – Elisha & Sons Of The Prophets

After Elijah was taken bodily into heaven, the double portion of his Spirit came upon Elisha, who witnessed his rapture first hand.

There were other prophets who knew about Elijah’s exit but did not have a Revelation of what really happened.
Soon after Elijah’s disappearance, the sons of the prophets began to lobby for a rescue party to be sent to look for him. Perhaps the chariots of fire had suffered engine failure and had landed on a mountain far away?
Elisha refused to authorize the search. He knew where Elijah was. But they pressed until he became ashamed, lest he look like an uncaring disciple.
The search party wasted three days in a forlorn escapade, and came back sorrowful.
As it was then, so it is now. The rapture is a revelation only to those who are watching and waiting.

Uniting With The Head

Where the Head goes so the body does
Where the Head is the Word and the Lord
So His people made up of flesh and blood
Are people whose veins throb with His Word
The love of such is held by a strong chord
A seven strand one that defies peril and sword
They follow the Master not for mere bread
And so will not depart for hunger’s dread
Or for miracles or wonders that spin the head
Like Peter they know He has the Word of Life
His holy precepts then are an end to all strife
The Bride is bound to Christ by His Word
Which has become hers as she is His flesh
The Head has ascended and so the body will
Unity of Word and Bride is the Father’s will

Elisha

One day a man was ploughing with twelve oxen
Little did he know that he was marked and chosen
To continue Elijah’s commission and harvest his portion

God sent the prophet to touch his pupil with his mantle
That was the call, too simple to survive tough analysis
Yet to heed it will precipitate a family crisis

Elisha paused, asked for time to tidy tenuous affairs
Elijah was nonplussed at the confusion he caused
Elisha must decide, he alone would choose his side
Spurred by unction, he decided to immediately shelve
His agrarian plans by killing the yoked oxen-all twelve

Elijah: A Type Of The Church

After Elijah’s Mount Carmel victory and vindication
Jezebel fumed at the decapitation of Baal’s religion
For the cream of the Baal’s prophets had been decimated
Thus the prophet of the age was now a target of her retaliatory rage

Elijah fled for her threat-it was a curious life that he led
He that showed boundless courage in killing proponents of Baal’s image
Now took flight in fright from this queen of pagan parentage
A lesson on anointing’s effects-under its blessing the prophet was bold
Without it his fiery heart became cowardly and cold

God never forgot His servant as he fled to the safety of obscurity
In the solitary wilderness angels brought relief supplies
Elijah was depressed thinking he was alone resisting the pagan throne
Not so there were seven thousand knees that were godly to the bone

Rebekah, A Type Of The Bride

Rebekah was the much-loved wife of Isaac
Yet the story of how she was sought for
Is one for the ages to learn from and take a peek
It brings the story of Church and Christ to the fore

‎Abraham sent his trusted servant Eleazer
To seek a wife for his promised son Isaac
He told obedient Eleazer not to bother
With Canaanites-from them not to seek

God seeking a worthy Bride for His Son,
Has sent His messengers to call elect only
People of His kindred, His flesh and bones
No unbelieving Canaanites-the predestined solely
